Bears for Kids |
Teacher Erica Citrin, along with her students at the School for Language and Communication Development take on a Bears 4 Kids project for some of our lupus members.
Recently a supporter of ours called and asked if her students at the School for Language and Communication Development could include us in a project they were undertaking. The students who are all ages 4-7, were learning about giving and compassion and their teacher, not only a long time supporter of ours, but also a lupus survivor chose to use her connection with us in this program entitled Bears 4 kids.
The students were asked to write a one page letter to someone with lupus and each letter was accompanied by a stuffed bear. The children had a wonderful time learning about giving to others, and sending out the bears and wishes to us.
We received the bears this past month and have sent them out to some of our lupus kids to hopefully bring a smile to their face and some sunshine in their lives. Below are some pictures of the bears, the letters from the kids and a great poster they made for us about lupus, signed by all of them.
Erica Citrin and her family have been great supporters of our organization for years and walk with us every year at our annual Walk-Along for lupus. We cannot thank her enough for these wonderful bears, and for getting her students involved in the lupus cause.
