THE LUPUS ALLIANCE OF LI/Q IS RAFFLING OFF A BEAUTIFUL HANDMADE DOLLHOUSE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THEIR DIRECT PATIENT SUPPORT PROGRAMS. |
Bellmore, NY – Last year the Lupus Alliance of LI/Q raffled off a beautiful 4 room handmade dollhouse, and the sale was quite a success; raising over $2000 for direct patient support services. This year, Jean Pollack has once again donated a stunning dollhouse, even bigger and better than last year’s model.
With almost 2 Million Americans suffering from lupus, everyone loves someone with lupus. Jean Pollack’s someone is her grandniece Carole-Anne, who was diagnosed with lupus when she was 12 years old, and for the past six years has fought through several hospitalizations, hundreds of medical tests, chemotherapy and more. Mrs. Pollack, who has worked on dollhouses as a hobby for years, decided to create her dollhouses for the Lupus Alliance as a way to help her grandniece as well as all of the children and adults in the local area who suffer with lupus, a chronic life-threatening autoimmune disease that has no cure.
Mrs. Pollack, a resident of Bellmore said of her donation, “The Lupus Alliance has done so much for my niece, and other children like her. These dollhouses are fun to make, and a great way to help the Alliance fund the many programs that those with lupus in the area need to better the quality of their life while battling this devastating disease.”
The colonial style dollhouse valued at over $2000, has nine rooms and three floors. It is fully furnished and sports a beautiful wrap around porch with swing, sitting room, carpeted staircase, child’s bedroom and more. This dollhouse would be a perfect present for a collector or a beautiful holiday gift for a young child. As they did last year, the Lupus Alliance will have the house on display at their Annual Walk-Along for Lupus in Eisenhower Park, October 21, 2007. Tickets will also be on sale at the walk.
The raffle begins July 1st and ends on December 2nd. The drawing will be held at the Alliance office in Bellmore on December 3rd. Tickets are 1 for $5 or 6 for $20 and are available by calling the Lupus Alliance at 516-783-3370 or e-mailing them at info@lupusliqueens.org. This holiday season you could win a beautiful gift for your child, while helping someone with lupus live a better life while we all hope and search for a cure!!
