o Set a team or personal goal.

o Ask your company to sponsor you & form a corporate team.

o Challenge another office or branch, or club in your school. Competition is a great motivator!

o Walk in honor of someone you know or love who has lupus.

o Place announcement/memo in your employee break room, mailroom, copy room etc.

o Send donation requests to your friends on myspace, facebook, and classmates.com.

o Add a link to your Walk-Along donation page on your e-mail signature and away messages.

o Tell everyone about the walk by leaving details on your voicemail.

o Ask your mail carrier, delivery driver, teachers, neighbors, coaches, & store clerks for a donation!

o Have a sign up sheet at your office.

o Ask your friends who you have sponsored in the past, to return the favor and sponsor you now.

o Bring donation envelopes to club and group meetings to ask for donations and team members!

o Always say THANK YOU. Send thank you e-mails, letters and phone calls.

o Ask ten people for $10 and just like that you have made $100!!

o Send an e-mail update on your progress. It’s nice for those who have already supported your efforts, and a nudge to those who haven’t contributed yet.

o Start a letter writing campaign, online and through the mail. Include your goal, why you are walking, where the money will go, how to donate online, and how they can help you get even more donations! Make it as easy as possible for someone to donate by providing pre-stamped return envelopes in your letter!

o Change your e-mail auto-signature at work and/or home and add your personal fundraising page link. This will raise awareness of our event and ensure that every e-mail you send out could prompt a possible donation.

o Check you’ve e-mailed all your groups of potential supporters, colleagues, former colleagues, fellow members of your church, social group, PTA, etc. Encourage them to pass on your link to everyone they know as well. You never know, one of their friends might know someone with lupus and would be interested in showing support by making a donation!

o The internet really widens the group of people you might immediately think of; for example, friends, family and colleagues living in different parts of the US that you rarely see. The Internet is global, so make the most of it!
