Volunteers |
The Lupus Alliance welcomes volunteers. Our volunteer network is very involved and we would not be able to accomplish our mission without their work. If you are interested in volunteering these are some areas in which we need your help.
Office Assistant - duties vary each day, include filing requests for information, answering phones, updating information, making welcoming call to new members, mailing newsletter or member updates, other general office work as needed.
Data Entry - some work can be done at home if volunteer has compatible software and computer experience. Data entry needed in updating databases and creating new programs.
Advocacy - individuals needed to establish and maintain an relationship with local, state and federal representatives, keeping them informed about lupus related legislation and the needs of people with lupus.
Grant Writing/Developing - developing grant leads and guidelines for various types of funding. Working with the Director of Patient Education, previous grant writing experience preferred but not necessary.
Membership Development - working with Administrative Director to develop new membership programs to increase membership by retaining and attracting new members. Computer tracking and phone skills necessary.
Education Assistant - Assist Director of Education and Volunteer coordinator in staffing and setting up health fairs, education days, forums and seminars and new patient orientation. Can include phone and mailing to health professionals.
Special Events - work on committees and with the Director of Events in planning, creating and organizing special events. responsibilities would differ for each event. Can be hands on or assume tasks like phone contacts, media public relation kits, acquiring donations or creating new and original fund raising resources.
Media Coordinator - develop a relationship with local media representatives and keep them informed on the activities and programs of the Alliance and the latest on lupus research.
Speakers Bureau - be available to present information on lupus and the Alliance at meetings, health fairs and workshops. The Lupus Alliance provides training and support.
