The following schools supported the Lupus Alliance by selling our "Catch a Cure for Lupus" Butterflies and/ or Lupus Awareness bracelets.

The student council at Marion Street School hosted a fundraiser to raise money for the Alliance. They sold our “Catch a Cure for Lupus” Butterflies for $1.00 each which are now hanging in their lobby. $462.00 was raised with fundraiser. The most money raised so far by any school or business with our butterfly campaign.

Robert Moses Middle School

Robert Moses Middle School raised $350.00 by selling our “Life without Lupus” awareness bracelets. The bracelets were sold at the various lunch periods throughout the day. Teachers, staff and students alike purchased them. Robert Moses chose to support the Lupus Alliance because one of their alumni; Carole-Anne Bonner suffers from lupus, and now attends North Babylon High School. She was diagnosed with lupus while attending Robert Moses. For the fundraiser, Carole-Anne was asked to come into the school and speak in several classes as well as on the morning PA announcements to speak about lupus, what it is and how it has affected her life.

Hillcrest High School, which participates in our Walk Along every year, recently raised $300.00 for the Lupus Alliance by selling both our “Catch a Cure for Lupus” butterflies and our “ Life without Lupus: awareness bracelets. At last years walk, the Leadership club raised, $615.00 for the Alliance. This is the same club that raised this money as well. Way to go!!

Signal Hill Elementary School raised $650.00 for the Lupus Alliance by selling our lupus awareness bracelets, as well as with their own school run fundraiser. We are thrilled to add this schools name to our list of local contributors. They did a terrific job raising money for us, even getting donations from some families from the district who wanted to help. Thanks to all!!

Grand Avenue Junior High School

Grand Avenue Junior High School raised $107 selling our “Catch a Cure for Lupus” butterflies. The Grand Avenue Builders Club also raises money for us with our Walk along, donating over $1,000.00 at last years walk. Our local Bellmore schools are always there for us, and this butterfly campaign was no exception. Thanks again for all the hard work.

Jackson Avenue Middle School raised $450.00 for the Lupus Alliance by selling our “Life without Lupus” awareness bracelets. The bracelets were so popular at this school that several shipments of bracelets had to be sent throughout the fundraiser, because they would go faster than they would come in. What a thrill to know that they were such a hit, and that so many students purchased one to support us. Great job by all!!

This year the Key Club of the Gerald R. Claps Career and Technical Center held a “Lollipops for Lupus” fundraiser in which they were able to raise $150.00 for the Alliance. The Key Club chose to donate to the Alliance this year and has already pledged to do a fundraiser for us next year as well.

The National Junior Honor Society at North County Middle School held a bake sale fundraiser in honor of one of our members, Jessica DeGonzague, one of our many teenage lupus members. She has been out of school and tutored at home for quite some time due to her lupus and this fundraiser was a way of welcoming her back. Some of the money raised went toward buying Jessica a New York Yankees Jacket, and the rest the school donated to us, $193.56 was donated in June. We were thrilled to not only receive the money but also over the generosity of the Honor society, school, staff and students at North County Road Middle School.

The Sugar Plum Clothing store started selling our Catch a Cure for Lupus Butterflies since late last year. So far they have sold over $140.00 dollars worth, and are still going. They were one of the first stores that called us to say they would like to support us by selling our butterflies, and we thank them. Good luck on the rest of the sale.

This school held a school wide fundraiser selling to students and staff. They sold over 250 butterflies, and collected over $270.00. One of our highest goring schools to sell butterflies. What a great Job!!
