Chapter Membership |
An individual or family membership in the Lupus Alliance of America Long Island/Queens Affiliate supports the many programs offered by the Alliance to its members. Memberships are the only continuing source of income to the Alliance and the backbone of our organization.
As a member, the following services are available to you:
Support groups to people with lupus and their families
Participation in the LupusLine program
Subscription to the Lupus News Link, a quarterly educational newsletter for individuals concerned about lupus, their families and the medical community.
Seminars designed to help people with Lupus and their families understand and cope with the disease.
Lending library of books and videos on Lupus
Brochures on lupus and the medications that are used to treat it
A large resource library on other autoimmune diseases related to lupus
Physician referral available from the Alliance office
Discounts on books, boutique items and special events.
The Quality of Life Program, which offers financial assistance to those in need for things such as medical bills, medication, therapeutic devices, utility bills and more.
The Let Kids be Kids Program which offers financial assistance to kids with lupus ages 7-17 as well as young adults in college with lupus ages 18-21. This program also offers free trips during the year to fun places around the local area to kids with lupus, as well as to kids whose parent or sibling has lupus, free of charge. Trips to Camp Sunshine in Maine are also offered to families of a child or teen with lupus, as well as a e-mail group for kids and teens with lupus ages 7-19.
